About Us

We’re solving this annoying problem: xkcd.com/949. We’ve had a very successful beta and are funded by top VCs and a leading incubator. We're hiring 2 software engineers to play leading roles.

(1) Python / C++ App Engineer

You'll primarily own client-side Python code that does:

  • Data transfer to/from Amazon S3
  • P2P data transfer using a C++ lib
  • GUI layout, flow, and control of a C++ rendering lib
  • Message passing with our edge servers
  • Persistence to disk
  • Auto-updating

It would be nice if you have:

  • C++ chops
  • UX skills (can design intuitive interfaces and interaction flows)
  • built and deployed desktop software for Mac and Windows
  • written multi-platform builds incorporating C++ and Python
  • built GUIs with Win32 or Objective-C/Cocoa

(2) Python Server-Side Engineer

You'll primarily own server-side code that "scales and never fails". Your code will do:

  • Reliable message handling with millions of clients over persistent TCP SSL/TLS connections
  • Horizontal scaling and auto-healing/failover
  • Persistence to a SQL database
  • Persistence to an eventually-consistent highly-available NOSQL database
  • Monitoring and Administration
  • Logging
  • Interfacing with serveral third-party services and libraries
  • Realtime integration testing

It would be nice if you have:

  • Built highly-available, horizontally-scalable, testable, monitorable server infrastructure

Both of you will:

  • Own critical sections of the codebase that are technically challenging.
  • Receive competitive compensation, including equity.
  • Have freedom in your coding methods, tools, and implementation choices.
  • Work closely with talented fellow programmers.
  • Have an opportunity to open-source parts of your work.
  • Work out of a beautiful office in Cambridge, MA with a stocked kitchen.

You'd be a good fit if you:

  • Are a pragmatist not a perfectionist.
  • Can quickly write code that works - you can ship!
  • Have a knack for solving complex problems with simple solutions.
  • Use test-driven development.
  • Work hard.
  • Get excited that your code will be used by millions to solve a common problem and disrupt a billion-dollar industry.

Hours: Full-time

Location: Preferably local (Cambridge, MA) but that's second to you being really good.
